A 21-year-old Marine recruit has gone missing, prompting his family to call for help.

Joey Brancato was last seen on Nov. 18 in Roslindale. He was close to joining the Marines—besides training for the physical exam, he was living in the basement of his recruiter’s home.

In December, the Boston Police Department issued a missing person’s alert. However, family members have stepped forward this week, saying something seems amiss.

“We don’t want to say bad things about a person without evidence, but nothing about this feels right, nothing about it sounds right,” a family member told Fox25.

The recruiter, who has not been named or named a person of interest, may have been responsible, according to Brancato’s family.

“We’re not going to stop until we find him, he has many, many people that love and care about him,” said aunt Andrea Walke of Brancato.

No one answered at the recruiter’s home when a reporter visited, and his cell phone was turned off.

WCVB reported that the U.S. Marine Corps recruiting station where the recruiter worked was closed recently.

Sources told the broadcaster that the Boston Police Department’s homicide unit is monitoring the case.

According to the missing persons alert, Brancato is a white male, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 200 pounds.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Brancato is advised to contact 911 or District E-5 detectives directly at (617) 343-4566.
