Marcus Vick, the outspoken brother of Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick, said on Twitter that he placed a bounty on wide receiver Riley Cooper’s head during the NFL season.
Cooper, who also plays for the Eagles, apologized on Wednesday for using a racial slur in a video that surfaced recently.
Vick--before he removed the tweets--offered $1,000 to opposing defenders to go after Cooper.
“Hey I’m putting a bounty on Riley’s head. 1k to the first Free Safety or Strong safety that light his [expletive] up! Wake him up please.....” he wrote.
He also wrote: “Who want to play on a team with guys like that?”
In the video, Cooper said, “I will jump that fence and fight every (N-word) here, bro.”
But later, he apologized for the remark.
“It’s going to be very difficult for me. I’m going to tell them, ‘I’m extremely sorry,’ tell them exactly what I’m telling you guys. There was a confrontation and I handled it extremely, extremely poorly,'' Cooper said, according to USA Today. He was responding to what he would tell his black teammates.
He added: “This is kind of the lowest of lows. This isn’t the type of person I want to be portrayed as. This isn’t the type of person that I am.”
