Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent is set but fans are wondering who he'll fight after he, presumably, beats Chris Algieri later this year.
Pacman will most likely have two fights next year. It’s becoming increasingly possible that the second will be against Floyd Mayweather Jr., though that’s still far from being confirmed.
The opponent for early 2015 is still up in the air but apparently Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya and Top Rank promoter Bob Arum want to match Pacquiao with Danny Garcia.
“You could have Danny Garcia versus Manny Pacquiao,” De La Hoya told RingTV.com.
“What a fight that would be. That’s what I want to talk to Bob about. Danny Garcia versus Manny Pacquiao? Come on. You would have the young, strong bull [Garcia] versus the not-so-young strong bull in Manny. Those are the types of fights and matches that I want to talk to Bob and see what we can come up with.”
Arum agreed though neither spoke of a time frame for the potential matchup.
Then again, Sky Sports reported rcently that Pacquiao’s promoters actually want him to face Juan Manuel Marquez a fifth time for his first 2015 fight, though boxing fans would surely not be pleased with that bout.
Another very real possibility is Amir Khan, who has been pressing for a fight against either Pacquiao or Mayweather early next year.
