Manhunt in New York City After Man Caught on Tape Sucker-Punching 5-Year-Old in Face

A manhunt has been launched in New York City after a 25-year-old man was caught on tape sucker-punching a 5-year-old boy.

The New York City Police Department said that the punch happened on the subway.

Police officers said the boy’s mother was standing next to him on the G train when a man, later identified as Ramon Thomas, sucker-punched the boy.

The incident took place just before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, March 24.

Authorities said Thomas taunted the boy after punching him, before exiting the train at the station.

The motive behind the attack is not clear.

“Are you going to cry to ya’ mommy?” Thomas said, a witness told police, reported the New York Daily News.

The boy was rushed to NYU Langone Health-Cobble Hill, where doctors treated him for bruising and swelling on the left side of his face.

Eyewitnesses shared pictures of Thomas with the police.

Thomas is described as black, about 6 feet tall, weighing 160 pounds, with a medium build.

Officers said Thomas has short black hair and typically sports a mustache. Officers told the New York Post that Thomas has one prior arrest, for jumping onto the subway earlier this year without paying.
