Man thrown from plane: A man was thrown from a plane 2,500 feet above Tennessee after the plane’s canopy fell off. A search and rescue mission was launched for the man.

Authorities are searching for a man who was thrown out of a plane over Tennessee while he was taking part in pilot training.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press reported that the incident took place over East Brainerd, Tenn., on Friday.

He was flying in a Zodiac 601 experimental aircraft around 2,500 above the ground when the plane’s canopy flew off, Collegedale Municipal Airport employee Lowell Sterchi told the paper.

His seat belt was not fastened as the canopy blew away and he subsequently flew out of the plane.

The man’s instructor, who wishes not to be named, was able to land the plane and was not hurt, Sterchi said.

Officials are now searching the area for the missing man, but according to News Channel 9, it might be too little, too late, as the search and rescue mission has now become a recovery mission.

Police in Collegedale and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office were searching the area

The station reported that the plane went into a nosedive and when the pilot’s instructor got it under control, the other man was gone
