CHICAGO—The Chicago Skyway on the city’s South Side has been shut down in both directions as police investigating the slaying of a man who was shot and killed while riding in a car.

Spokesman Anthony Guglielmi (goo-lee-EHL’-mee) says the shooting occurred at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. He says the man and a woman were in a car when a black SUV pulled alongside and someone inside rolled a window down and opened fire.

Guglielmi says the 23-year-old woman was struck in the arm and is listed in stable condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He says the man was struck multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. Guglielmi did not immediately have further information about the man.

He says investigators are examining footage from cameras in the area.
