A man shot and killed a woman in Florida, then drove the wrong way on a major highway and caused multiple crashes before he was shot dead by a sheriff’s deputy, police reported.
About 15 minutes later, police started to get calls about the car driving south on the northbound side of Interstate 95.
In all, three accidents occurred, “all just about head-on,” Bradshaw said.
As the last accident happened—in Lantana, Florida—Highway Patrol and the sheriff’s deputies reached the car.
A Highway Patrol trooper shot a taser at the driver, but it didn’t work, Bradshaw said. Another deputy, “in fear of his life” opened fire at the driver and killed him. The woman was found in the car, dead.
The driver was also involved in another, non-fatal shooting the night before in West Palm Beach, Bradshaw said.
Other drivers involved in the accidents suffered non-life threatening injuries, Bradshaw said.
The man was identified, but Bradshaw didn’t release his name, saying authorities are trying to first find his next of kin, as well as the next of kin of the woman.
In an unrelated incident, a man was shot on I-95 in Boca Raton around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday. He was later pronounced dead.
