A man seen on video punching two women in the face in Los Angeles has surrendered to the police.
Arka Sangbarani Oroojian, 30, turned himself into the police on Jan. 29 and was booked for assault with a deadly weapon, the Los Angeles Police Department said on Jan. 30. Oroojian is a Sylmar resident.
The department had circulated footage showing Oroojian engaged in a fight with two women, punching each twice before jogging away.
The footage was taken at a hotdog stand in the area of 6th and Spring, the police said.
Woman Speaks
One of the women who was punched said that she and her friend were hanging out when they stopped for hot dogs.That’s when, according to the woman, who didn’t disclose her name, the man punched them.
One of the women told the man to take his food and leave before he struck her, she said.
One of the women, a nursing student, suffered a bruise to her jaw while her friend suffered injuries as well. They both suffered concussions and one had a broken finger. A third person drove them to a nearby hospital where they were treated and released.
According to Mike Watson, who said he’s the father of one of the women, the women intervened when the man caused a scene about the price of a hot dog.
“Eventually, one of the vendors tells this guy, who is clearly wanting to start a fight with someone, to just take the hot dog and leave,” Watson wrote on Facebook. “The guy would not leave the hot dog guy alone. [The women] said something to him in attempts to get him to leave thus, standing up for the vendor.”
The woman said that she was upset that none of the bystanders came to their aid.
