Man robs for cruise: A North Carolina man was arrested for robbing a credit union in Florida to pay for a Disney cruise, it was reported.
Cedrick Swinson, 37, is accused of robbing a Satellite Beach credit union after he found out he didn’t have enough money for the cruise, according to WFTV.
His girlfriend and two children were present in his car while he carried out the robbery, but the family had no idea what he was doing.
“They were actually in Brevard County to get on a Disney Cruise and this man indicated as he talked with investigators that he couldn’t get his money out of the bank account that he was trying to access,” local police Commander Brad Hodge told KAIT-8 television.
In the robbery, Swinson handed over a note to the teller, demanding the bank give him money for the cruise.
Police then pulled him over around five to six minutes later. His girlfriend was not arrested.
“He drove all night but couldn’t access his account and didn’t want to disappoint the kids,” Hodge told the Orlando Sentinel. “I’ve been in law enforcement for 25 years and this will definitely go down in my top 10 cases.”
When he was arrested, Swinson “was extremely cooperative and was concerned with ensuring police knew he acted alone,” Hodge said.
