When two men with knives demanded Othon Maldonado’s wallet and cellphone, he quickly complied.
But when they tried to force his pregnant wife into their car, he fought them.
Almost three weeks have passed since the muggers left Maldonado gushing blood in the parking lot of a Whataburger in northwest Houston at 1 a.m. on Dec. 18.
Police are still looking for the two suspects, who they say are extremely dangerous. Investigators released a composite drawing of one of the suspects in hopes that someone may recognize the man.
Sandra Martinez, Maldonado’s wife, got him into their car and rushed him to a hospital. Maldonado spent 18 days at the hospital and was released on Thursday.
The attack occurred in the 400 block of W. Little York Road in Houston. Maldonado and his wife stopped by the Whataburger for breakfast. As soon as they stepped out of their car the two men approached them.
After slashing and stabbing Maldonado, the two men jumped into a newer model four-door black car and drove.
