YouTube channel operator TheBackyardScientist seemingly has an endless supply of molten aluminum.
In a recent video, he dropped molten, liquid aluminum (around 1,800 °F or 980 °C) into a fish tank filled with “spitballs,” or water beads (a type of toy). He said there’s likely more than “10,000 in there,” referring to the water beads.
After pouring the metal into the tank, it then forms strange shapes and cools.
“I melted a bunch of old aluminum pipes and poured them into the fishtank hoping to create a cool design. And it worked perfectly! These are really unique, no two pieces are alike,” he wrote.
