Man Pleads Guilty to Shooting 2 Teens in Laguna Hills

SANTA ANA, Calif.—A 21-year-old man pleaded guilty to shooting two 17-year-old boys in Laguna Hills, leaving one victim in critical condition.

Luis Angel Martinezmondragon of Aliso Viejo pleaded guilty to two felony counts of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury. He was scheduled to be sentenced April 22, 2025.

As part of the plea deal, two felony counts of assault with a firearm were dismissed.

The shooting occurred about 10:05 p.m. March 23 in the 25000 block of Alicia Parkway near the Laguna Hills Community Center, deputies said.

The victims were rushed to a hospital and survived.

A quinceañera party was occurring at the community center when the shots rang out, deputies said.

Multiple other drug cases pending against him were dismissed, but he pleaded guilty to possessing a deadly weapon in a case dating back to December 2021 and pleaded guilty to felony vandalism in another case dating back to December 2022.
