Man Killed in Tenderloin Hit-and-Run in August Identified

A man struck in a hit-and-run last month in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood died from his injuries shortly afterward, the city’s medical examiner’s office confirmed on Sept. 13.

The victim has been identified as 57-year-old Edison Rivera, according to the medical examiner’s office.

According to police, on Aug. 18, Rivera was standing in the roadway in the 300 block of Jones Street when a vehicle heading south struck him around 3:15 a.m. The driver fled the scene.

Rivera was taken to the hospital, police said.

According to the medical examiner’s office, he died later in the month.

A description of the vehicle has not been provided. Additionally, an arrest has not been announced.
