HUNTINGTON BEACH—The Orange County coroner’s office today released the name of a 74-year-old man killed while riding a tandem bicycle with his 82-year-old wife when they were struck by an SUV in Huntington Beach.

Clinton Silverman was a Huntington Beach resident, according to the coroner’s office.

The crash happened about 8:50 a.m. Sunday near Magnolia Street and Hamilton Avenue, according to Huntington Beach police spokeswoman Jennifer Carey.

Both the man now identified as Silverman and his wife were taken by paramedics to a hospital, where he died, Carey said. The woman was seriously injured.

The driver of the 2005 Explorer stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, Carey said. Intoxication did not appear to be a factor in the crash, she said.

Anyone with information on the crash was asked to call Huntington Beach police traffic investigators D. Demetre at 714-536-5670 or V. Rattanchandani at 714-536-5231.
