SAN DIEGO—A shooting in a Grantville-area neighborhood left an unidentified man fatally wounded March 27.

Patrol officers responding to a report of gunfire shortly before 6 a.m. found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest in a parking lot in the 10900 block of San Diego Mission Road, according to the San Diego Police Department (SDPD).

Paramedics took the man, who appeared to be in his late 30s to mid-40s, to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“At this time, the events leading up to the shooting are unknown,” SDPD Lt. Steve Shebloski said Monday afternoon. “There is no physical description of the [shooter] at this time.”

Investigators believe the assailant might have fled the scene of the homicide in a white or silver vehicle, the lieutenant said.
