Man Gets 40 Years to Life for Killing Boyfriend at San Diego Motel

SAN DIEGO—A man who fatally beat his boyfriend at a downtown San Diego motel was sentenced May 17 to 40 years to life in state prison.

Ryan Breeland, 43, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and other charges in the death of 32-year-old Kenneth Banks, who was found dead on the morning of June 9, 2021, at a motel on 10th Avenue.
