Surfing around Google Street View is a fun past time for many people, but one man made the finding of a lifetime: his grandmother.
The man, who posted on Reddit, said he would browse different streets around Oregon using Google Street View, exploring towns that he might visit one day. His brother enjoyed doing it, too, and they would often do it side-by-side, according to an account that he had posted online.
One night, the brothers made an unusual discovery. They were browsing several neighborhoods when they spotted a person relaxing in front of her house who looked familiar.
It was their grandmother. After zooming in, they confirmed it.
According to the Reddit user, the brothers were happy they had discovered their relative. Less than a year later, she passed away.
The Google Street View photo turned out to be one of the last photos of her.
“I thought it was such an uplifting and awesome picture because it showed just how laid back and awesome she was.”
He elaborated: “What surprised me, was that Google captured one of the last few pictures of my grandma, because she passed away less than a year after that picture was taken. I thought it was such an uplifting and awesome picture because it showed just how laid back and awesome she was. Might not mean much to anyone else, I just thought I would share.”
Dog Becomes a Star on Google Street View
A Google Street View car appeared to capture the moment a dog chased it for a few hundred feet. Several frames show the dog excitedly pursuing the car.
