A man in Malibu, California survived driving a car off a 300-foot cliff.
Another vehicle hit 29-year-old Zane Vargas and sent him down a cliff on Jan. 26 at around 6:30 p.m. Vargas was driving to work and didn’t see the vehicle coming at him. Although he survived, the impact at the bottom caused the doors to his Cadillac sedan to jam.
Vargas hit his head on the steering wheel, broke his forearm, and dislocated his shoulder in the accident.
Search and Rescue and the LA County Fire Air Ops pulled Vargas from the cliff and into a helicopter, according to CBS.
“They wedged open the door, they pulled me out slowly to make sure I wasn’t more injured than I was,” Vargas told CBS. NBC Los Angeles reported via video that emergency workers took him to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. A CBS video report indicates he was treated and released, but will need more surgery.
Emergency workers also made sure that the leaking fuel from Vargas’s vehicle was not able to ignite a brush fire.
“I’m left homeless because my vehicle was me and my wife’s home as well, we would appreciate any and all donations thank you so much.” As of Jan. 30, the page received $555 in donations towards a goal of $10,000.
