An emotional Facebook post that went viral tells about the encounter between a little boy and an elderly gentleman who lost his grandson days ago.
In a Sept. 16 Facebook post, a mom living in Coweta, Oklahoma describes how she and her toddler son were shopping at Target when the boy, Owen, grabbed three stuffed dinosaur toys.
As the boy was deciding which one of the dinosaurs to keep, he abruptly yelled “HI” at an older man walking past them. That’s when the man turned around and started interacting with the toddler.
The mother admits that she “was a little hesitant” as to how close the elderly man was with her son, but then the man got his wallet out and gave a heartfelt explanation.
The man, who was not named, pulled out $20, giving it to Owen before saying, “I just lost my 2 year old grandson last week. You take this money and buy this boy all three dinosaurs,” the post states.
The elderly man then rubbed Owens back before he wiped his tears away and walked off.
As he was walking away Owen yelled “thank you” and the gentleman turned around and replied, “boomer sooner!”
The mother said that she was so touched by the encounter that she cried in the middle of Target.
“There is still some good in this world,” she closed the post with.
The viral post has garnered over 350,000 reactions and over 131, 268 shares as of Wednesday, Sept. 20.
Over 15,547 people have commented, many expressing their approval of the kind gentleman’s act.
