Man bites dog? A husband reportedly bit a dog that was attacking his wife to stop the assault.

Laine Henry and Caren Henry told Iowa’s The Des Moines Register that a Labrador mutt attacked the couple in rural Madrid, Iowa, over the weekend while they were walking their dog.

Caren told the paper that the dog bit her in the stomach and thigh and scratched toward her eyes. It then bit her nose and tore it off.

She told the paper that she and her husband tried to get the dog off but it wouldn’t stop. “He finally had to bite the dog in its nose, and it let loose,” she told the Register.

“Caren turned and looked at me and I seen her face was nothing but blood, so I bit the dog literally in the nose and he let go and I grabbed our dog and I grabbed her and I put them in our pick-up and took off,” Laine Henry told FOX 2 television.

Caren now has underwent reconstructive surgery to restore her nose.

“It could have been so much worse,” she added. “If I hadn’t been wearing my sunglasses, I’m sure I would be missing an eye. If it had gotten ahold of my throat, I'd be dead.”

Caren described the dog as between 50 and 60 pounds. “This dog came racing across this yard, a big dog,” she told FOX.

The dog is now under quarantine at the home where it escaped, according to the Register.
