ANAHEIM, Calif.—A 22-year-old man was behind bars Wednesday on suspicion of killing his roommate in Anaheim.

Marlon Garcia was booked on suspicion of murder in the death of 59- year-old Santos Castillo, according to Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Shane Carringer.

Officers were sent to the 500 block of North Philadelphia Street, two blocks east of Anaheim Boulevard, about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday “after receiving a call of an adult male subject at a residence in violation of a court order,” Carringer said.

“Officers responded in order to contact the subject who was to be removed from the location per authority of the court,” Carringer said. “Officers arrived on scene and attempted to contact the subject in question who was outside upon their arrival.

“The subject attempted to flee back into the home via an already broken glass window,” Carringer said. “The subject caused lacerations to himself in his attempt to escape but he was successfully detained by responding officers.”

Officers searched the residence and found the body of a man “who appeared to have suffered trauma,” Carringer said.

Garcia was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries and then was booked, Carringer said.
