Man Arrested at McDonald’s for Beating His Grandchildren

An Alabama man was arrested after McDonald’s customers saw him beating his grandchildren. James Chapman, 73, was at the fast-food chain with his two adopted grandchildren, both under 10 years of age, when he started beat them.

“I think that the person who was there did not agree with corporal punishment,” said Chapman’s lawyer, who said that Chapman’s behavior “was not out of the bounds of what is lawful and reasonable.”

Child services is investigating the incident. 

“This is a 73-year-old man who was out eating with his wife and their grandchildren,” the lawyer said. “He’s raised two children and has five grandchildren. There’s never been anything like this before.”
