A South Carolina man accused of spraying a liquid with a fecal odor at a supermarket pleaded not guilty to federal charges on Wednesday, Dec. 27.
The 41-year-old was indicted on Dec. 13 on charges of tampering with consumer goods with reckless disregard to people and tainting products with intent to damage a business.
He was accused of spraying “foods and fresh produce, and items in the deli food area, the prepared food bar, the prepared salad bar and the sushi bar,” reported The Post and Courier, citing the indictment. Authorities estimates Hang ruined about $3,000 worth of food.
He was initially arrested on state charges of tampering with food products and malicious injury to personal property which were later changed to federal charges, reported the newspaper.
