SAN DIEGO—A 63-year-old man suffered head injuries after being hit by a vehicle in the Del Cerro neighborhood, the San Diego Police Department said March 12.

The incident was reported just after 5 p.m. Saturday at 6300 Del Cerro Boulevard. The man was walking westbound along the north sidewalk as an orange BMW I-3 was heading south out of a shopping center parking lot.

Police said the 23-year-old driver saw the pedestrian “walking in front of his car and waited,” but made a right turn too soon and hit him.

The man fell on the sidewalk and suffered a skull fracture and brain bleed, police said, adding that the man’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Police said neither alcohol nor drug use was a factor in the accident, which is under investigation.
