The Indian government issued a terror alert Monday for Mumbai, Bangalore, and Kolkalta. The home ministry said that these cities could potentially be attacked by terrorists, according to a Times of India report.

The government learned of this information after they interrogated alleged terrorist Salman Ahmed, who is suspected of being involved with terror attacks in Ahmedabad, Varanasi, and Gorakhpur.

An unnamed official involved in the case said the government is not taking any chances on whatever information they have received. “So, we have alerted the concerned state governments to take all necessary security measures immediately,” the official said. Ahmed is suspected of being part of the Indian Mujahideen terror organization, whom he said established several headquarters in Karachi, Kathmandu, and Dubai.
