On October 23, Hong Kong held activities to support and celebrate the event of five million people having withdrawn from the CCP. In addition to the first parade held in Kowloon Island, “The Great Wall of Quitting the CCP” was also built by Hong Kong democratic activists, volunteers from The Epoch Times and Hong Kong citizens on the busy streets nearby Tsima Sha Tsui, Hong Kong’s tourist zone.
Some volunteers distributed a special edition of The Epoch Times focusing on withdrawing from the CCP, and a special edition of The Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party to Hong Kong citizens and tourists.
Mainland Tourist Brings Resignation List
Zhang Zihong, spokesperson of the Hong Kong CCP Renunciation Center gave a speech at the quitting the CCP rally. From her experience of coming into contact with mainland Chinese tourists, many people in mainland China are willing to withdraw from the CCP. One teacher brought a list of more than one thousand people who wanted to withdraw from the CCP.
Certain Hong Kong people have even received phone calls from their relatives in China, who provided lists of people wanting to quit the CCP to pass on to the Hong Kong CCP Renunciation Center. Some Hong Kong residents even travel back and forth between the mainland and Hong Kong to introduce the Nine Commentaries to their family and friends and persuade them to withdraw from the CCP. Zhou Sheng, a volunteer of the CCP Renunciation Center said that every day he runs into mainland Chinese people who wish to withdraw from the CCP at the tourist site. According to these people, many people in mainland China have no way of contacting the CCP Renunciation Center, so they post their declarations of quitting the CCP in public areas such as trees and telegraph poles, which is also considered publicly withdrawing from the CCP. Therefore, the actual number of people withdrawing from the CCP is most likely higher than the number reflected on the Tuidang (Quit the CCP) website.
Mainland Tourist: I Want This
On October 23, as soon as a tourist from mainland China saw the Nine Commentaries, he gasped as if he found a treasure. He grabbed it in his hand and said, “I want this.”
There are also many mainland tourists who at first only looked at the banners from far away, then they walked a little bit closer to read the content of the extra issue of The Epoch Times and the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. Finally the tourists, asked the volunteers for the extra issue of The Epoch Times, “Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party,” and the DVD of the Nine Commentaries, then they put the materials in their handbags.
When figuring out the volunteers work without recompense, the tourists broke into loud cheers.
