TAIPEI, Taiwan—Shen Yun Performing Arts, a New York-based company established in 2006, has as its mission the revival of 5,000 years of divinely inspired Chinese culture. Mainland Chinese are also wanting to see this renaissance of ancient China’s cultural heritage, which has been all but wiped out by decades of communist rule, especially since the Cultural Revolution of the 1960s and 1970s.

As Shen Yun cannot as yet travel to China, two Chinese people from Northeastern China saw Shen Yun’s first performance at Dr. Sun Yat-sun Memorial Hall in Taipei on March 20. One of them said, “Now Shen Yun is especially popular in China. It has spread everywhere and all people are looking for it and watching its DVD. Seeing is believing. Today, we finally fulfilled our dream.”

“We found out the dates of Shen Yun’s performances in Taiwan and planned to come and see it more than a month ago. We were in Kaohsiung on March 17 and wanted to see Shen Yun there, but the tickets were all sold out. We stood outside the gate of the theater, but there weren’t any tickets left for sale at all! We were very sad at the time.”

“So we came to Taipei and finally were able to see Shen Yun, fulfilling our dream. We came from thousands of miles just to see Shen Yun and we felt honored and happy to see the performance personally in the theater. Shen Yun is really deserving of its reputation. We were deeply touched and stunned. It’s been a worthwhile trip.”

At Taipei station, when tourists from China see people with a Shen Yun program booklet, they walk over to them and ask them, “Have you just seen Shen Yun? How far is Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall from the station and how do we get there?”

A lady said, “We are from China. We’re going to see where the venue is and we will come back to see Shen Yun tomorrow!”
