Maine Police are searching for a Fairfield woman who has been missing since late August.

Valerie Tieman, 34, was last seen with her husband Luc Tieman on Aug. 30 at a Wal-Mart parking lot.

The couple had parked in a red pickup truck. Luc Tieman then went into the store while Valerie remained in the car, but when he returned, she was missing.

Two weeks after the incident, Valerie’s parents residing in South Carolina reported her missing to Fairfield police on Sep 16.

As to why Luc waited to report the incident, Maine State Police spokesman Steve McCausland said, “I don’t have an explanation as to his inaction,” reports WABI-TV.

McCausland added that police will be investigating the Walmart surveillance camera and financial records, as well as talking to Valerie’s friends and family.

Luc Tieman also told the Morning Sentinel that his wife had “run off” before, though he didn’t provide additional details.

Valerie Tieman is being described by police as 5 foot 7, 165 pounds, and with short brown hair and eyes.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Tieman are asked to call state police in Augusta at 624-7076 or the Fairfield police.
