Using the @MagicRecs experiment, from Twitter announced Tueday it will notify you about popular users and their tweets.

The notifications will start for Twitter’s iPhone and Android apps, according to website The Verge.

It says that when a group of people that a user follows all follow the same user, or retweet or make a tweet a favorite, then the notification will appear.

iPhone users will see it first and Android users will follow.

Twitter said that it has started “rolling out a new notification that recommends interesting accounts and Tweets for you.”

“Twitter for Android and Twitter for iPhone users will receive recommendations via a push notification. As with any notification, you can change your settings at any time; you can turn these notifications off or on with the “Recommendations” toggle in your notifications settings,” Twitter wrote on its blog.

It elaborated: “We built this feature based on an experimental account, @MagicRecs. As its bio notes, @MagicRecs “sends instant, personalized recommendations for users and content via direct message”. Over time, we’ve been tweaking the algorithms –– based on engagement and your feedback –– in order to send only the most relevant updates.”
