Madonna claimed that she is being discriminated against due to her age.

The singer, who recently turned 60, claimed she is “being punished for turning 60.”

“People have always been trying to silence me for one reason or another, whether it’s that I’m not pretty enough, I don’t sing well enough, I’m not talented enough, I’m not married enough, and now it’s that I’m not young enough,” she told the British Vogue. “So they just keep trying to find a hook to hang their beef about me being alive on. Now I’m fighting ageism.”

The singer, who was born Madonna Louise Ciccone, also said that “nobody does what I do, and that’s kind of scary.”

“Being a single parent of six children, I continue to be creative and be an artist and be politically active, to have a voice, to do all the things that I do. So I mean, there isn’t anybody in my position,” Madonna said. She is the parent of Lourdes, 22; Mercy, 13; and twins Stella and Estere, 6; and sons Rocco, 18; and David, 13.

Backlash

Madonna’s controversial comments to Vogue drew significant backlash on Instagram.

“Is it ageism or just the terrible and irrelevant music she has been putting out as she got older?” asked one.

Added another: “Grow old gracefully.. it’s just easier that way.”

“Being humble is a virtue,” added another person.

“She’s been successful by most standards so what is she complaining about???” asked one person.
“The minimally-talented but shrewd businesswoman is the constant victim, albeit with millions in the bank and everyone and everything at her beck and call,” said another, adding that she is an “arrogant deluded narcissist of the worst kind.” According to Forbes magazine, she was worth about $600 million as of 2018.

“Whatever love. 60 pretending to be 30 ain’t going to work,” another person opined.

“The horror that is the life of Madonna, yawn! As if we needed any more reason to eliminate the entertainment industry from our lives completely, and then another one of them delivers in epic fashion!” another added.
