Over Christmas, Madonna made herself Santa to children in Malawi, a small landlocked country in Southeast Africa.

Although she could not pay a visit, she shipped boxes of chocolates, sweets, clothes, toys, and signed Christmas cards to children in the six orphanages that she funds there, according to Us Magazine.

“To my Malawi children on Christmas and Boxing Day. I wish I was with you. See you soon, M.” Madonna, 52, said in a handwritten note that went with the boxes.

“How so sweet this woman is!” said Lucy Chipeta, director of Home of Hope Orphanage in Mchinji, as quoted by People magazine.

In 2006, Madonna adopted her son David from Home of Hope Orphanage, home to 500 children.

Malawi is the seventh-poorest country in the world. Of a population of about 12.5 million, 750,000 are orphans, according to the orphanage’s website.
