NEW YORK—The thousands of people scammed by Bernard Madoff will not be able to fit in the courtroom on June 29 when some of his victims will testify. This is limiting the number of people who can give their victim impact statements.

In response, RobeProbe.com has established a section of its site where any of Madoff’s victims can post their video statements. Their hope is that Judge Denny Chen—the sentencing judge for Madoff—will view them.

Max Marin, the founder of RobeProbe.com said he started the section after hearing that only a handful of victims would be allowed in the hearing.

“I think it’s important because thousands of people will be shut out,” said Marin.

Madoff’s victims are scattered across the globe and many may not have a chance to attend the court session in Manhattan. Marin hopes his site will help remedy this through its “global impact and global reach.”

The videos are limited to five minutes in length and the service is free.

To help ensure that the statements are legitimate, the site is moderated and all videos will need to be approved before they are posted. Marin said that if there are any inconsistencies, or if the videos appear to be fake, they will not be posted.

“Based on what their experiences are, people aren’t going to show their faces for no reason.” said Marin.

The new section of the Web site for Madoff victims officially launched on June 11.

The Web site, RobeProbe.com can be compared to a YouTube for judges. When someone is running for a judge position, they can post videos on the site, which can then be viewed and critiqued by viewers. It also has chat features.

When asked whether it is likely that Judge Chen will view the site, Marin said that there is a chance.

“Judges regularly visit the site, so it wouldn’t surprise me,” he said.
