AP update: 3 small tornadoes touch down in northeastern Ohio

HINCKLEY, Ohio (AP) — The National Weather Service says three small tornadoes touched down in northeastern Ohio, causing minor damage, as strong storms moved across the state.

Meteorologist Brian Mitchell says one tornado caused minor damage to least one home in the town of Hinckley in Medina (meh-DY'-nuh) County. The tornado’s wind speed was estimated at 94 mph and it was about 150 yards wide at its maximum point.

Mitchell says another tornado with an estimated wind speed of 94 mph touched down in Valley City. He says it damaged a barn as it made a 7-mile path from Lorain County into Medina County along State Route 303.

Mitchell says the third tornado touched down in Mahoning County. It started along State Route 224 and skipped for about 5 miles through Canfield Township and the city of Canfield with winds of up to 90. He estimates 10 buildings including homes suffered some damage.

He wasn’t aware of any injuries caused by tornadoes.
