In celebration of the Lunar New Year 2014, Macy’s is hosting a showcase of events in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Santa Clara, Hawaii, Boston, and of course, New York.

“Lunar New Year is a special time of celebration for millions of our customers and employees. We join them in marking the momentous start of the ‘Year of the Horse’ with a host of initiatives that will surprise and delight,” said William Hawthorne, senior vice president of Diversity Strategies, Macy’s, Inc.

It’s the first time Macy’s is making a national event out of Lunar New Year.

Macy’s will be hosting cooking shows, fashion shows, cultural dances and children’s activities. Select stores in these locations will have a variety of Lunar New Year-themed products. These include a free tote with any purchase of $75 or more, men’s t-shirts, cosmetics, gift cards, and other apparel.

Two of the country’s biggest Lunar New Year events, the 2014 Lunar New Year Chinatown Festival and Parade in New York (Feb. 4), and the Chinese New Year Festival and Parade in San Francisco (Feb. 15), are being hosted by Macy’s as well.
