Macbook Pro, the 2013 iteration, was unveiled as part of Apple’s live event today, Oct. 22.
A new, 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display is thinner and lighter, Apple marketing chief Phil Schiller said, adding that the laptop has up to 9 hours of battery life, enough to “watch the entire trilogy of ‘The Black Knight’ on one charge.”
The new MacBook Pros have a single fan; the previous iteration had eight fans.
They are one-eigth the volume of the preivous generation.
“The future of the pro desktop,” Schiller said.
It’s the first generation of Macs that comes standard with dual workstation graphics.
They have a huge amount of V-ram, up to 12 Gigabytes.
The 13-inch version starts at $1,299, compared with $1,499 for the previous version.
The 15-inch starts at $1,999, compared with $2,199 for the previous version, and comes with a quad core processor.
The Mac Pro, a high-end desktop computer aimed at what Apple calls “power users,” will be available in December for $2,999.
The company also said that its latest computer operating system, Mavericks, is available free of charge.
The new laptops will allegedly run 90 percent faster than the previous versions because of upgraded Intel chips.
