Lynne Spalding, a mother reported missing in San Francisco, was found dead at the San Francisco General Hospital after she disappeared there more than two weeks ago.
ABC-7 News reported on Tuesday afternoon that Spalding, 57, was discovered in the hospital, but officials would not confirm whether it was her.
Spalding disappeared from her hospital bed on Sept. 21, two days after she was admitted at the facility due to complications from an infection, a family spokesperson told ABC.
Family spokesman David Perry told NBC that her body was found in a stairwell.
“We do not know the identity of this person and have no further information at this time,” the hospital said in a statement. “We are cooperating with the investigation and will provide another update as information develops.”
Perry said that all signs show that it is most likely Spalding.
And while hospital officials would not confirm the identity of the body, a source at the facility told KTVU said they were positive that Spalding was found.
Spalding, originally from the U.K., was a mother of two.
“We find it disturbing that someone can go missing from the hospital,” Perry told ABC in September. “One would think there would be cameras or something.”
At the time, friends and family were confused as to why she went missing.
“We found out from the nurse that she had gone missing, she had walked out; she had gone AWOL. She’s a homebody, so when they asked me where she would be hanging out, it would be at home,” friend Alison McQuaid told KTVU in September.
