LSU RB suspended: Former LSU cornerback and NFL draft prospect Tharold Simon has been suspended indefinitely after an arrest over the weekend.

“LSU coach Les Miles said he will let the incident play out through the legal system before making any additional comments,” said sports information director at LSU Michael Bonnette on Twitter.

Police arrested Simon over allegations of public intimigation, including resisting an officer and a noise voilation.

Simon’s agent, Peter Shaffer, disputes police accounts and said previously that the officer overacted in a “shameful” abuse of power.

“There were 30 witnesses. We’ve talked to about 20. They all corroborate Tharold’s story. He did nothing wrong. The police overreacted,” Schaffer said. “We’re 100 percent confident he’ll be completely exonerated and that charges should never be filed.”

Officials at Eunice, Simon’s hometown, canceled a celebration for what was going to be “Tharold Simon Day” in the city.

Eunice Mayor Rusty Moody said that “in the United States you’re innocent until proven guilty, and people need to consider the feelings of Tharold and his family also.”

““He really is a good guy and he’s looked up to by a lot of the children in town,” said Moody. “He’s a football hero.”

The latest incident could put Hill, a sophomore  in violation of a probation coming from a guilty plea after a previous misdemeanor arrest, for carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
