Louie season 4 is wrapping up on June 16 and fans are wondering whether or not there will be a season 5.

There’s no word yet from FX about a cancellation or renewal, though the viewing figures seem solid enough to warrant another season. Louie has stayed around an average of 0.8 million viewers per episode for several seasons, but the numbers did drop a bit this season.

One episode dipped to 0.44 million viewers, although the premiere and second episode were close to 1 million.

There was a notably long hiatus between season 3 and season 4, with Louis C.K. telling reporters in a conference call that he needed to recharge his creative batteries.

At the time, FX president John Landgraf said that his goal was: “Not to force Louie to adapt his creative instincts to a specific business model or specific structure or story.”

“Every season when I have such a short shooting period, I want to do better,” said C.K.. “I want the show to be better. It was just exciting to think of, what if I had what if I had that much time to deliver Season 4.”

Season 3 debuted on June 28, 2012--about one year after season 2 premiered, which was about one year after season 1 premiered.

Season 4 started on May 5, 2014.

The season 4 finale is titled “Pamela Part 3.” FX describes it as “Pamela meets the family.”
