A transformer exploded in Marina Del Rey in Los Angeles County on Sunday and left a corridor without power as the LAPD and other emergency crews responded to the scene.

According to Twitter account Venice311, which tweets out information based on the LAPD’s scanner, there is an airship overhead scoping out the scene, and the explosion caused a fire.

The power is out at the Marina Del Rey Middle School and the Pacific Station power is out.

School officials are saying that there have been many copper and electrical thefts lately, which could be the cause.

Story developing; check back for updates.
