NEW YORK—Long Island City is getting a new hotel touting Manhattan views.

Long Island is a popular alternative to Brooklyn neighborhoods like Cobble Hill and Williamsburg, which once served as affordable alternatives to Manhattan.

The Crowne Plaza Hotel is breaking ground Dec. 10 at 11 a.m. at 25-10 42nd Rd. The 11-floor hotel will include 224 rooms, banquet facilities, and conference centers, a sky bar lounge, and a grand ballroom accommodating up to 300 guests.

Long Island City has been seeing a fair share of new development, making it the only Queens neighborhood that has attracted an office from one of the city’s biggest brokerages. Douglas Elliman opened their office in order to better market the new developments.

The neighborhood is also a budding tech hub, located close to Roosevelt Island’s future Cornell Tech campus.
