British police on Thursday renewed calls for the suspect who fatally shot a nine-year-old girl in northwestern England this week to come forward, vowing that officers would “not rest until we find you.”

Olivia Pratt-Korbel died in a Liverpool hospital on Monday shortly after a gunman fired three shots at a man who forced his way into her home as he sought refuge from the attacker, according to police.

The girl’s mother, Cheryl Korbel, 46, was shot in the wrist as she tried to close her front door on the gunman, who wasn’t known to the family.

Speaking about the shooting in a news conference on Thursday, Merseyside Police Detective Chief Superintendent Mark Kameen said detectives were following a “number of very positive lines of enquiry.”

Pratt-Korbel’s death was among three fatal shootings in the area in about a week.

That’s prompted local police officers to carry out a series of raids on several properties this week.
