The Blue State Pandemic
Please help me understand why blue states are more vulnerable to COVID-19. New York state has the most cases and deaths, and has a governor who is recognized for doing a great job. What is he doing that is great? He’s a failure. After all, it was Gov Cuomo’s executive order which allowed nursing homes to accept patients back without being cleared of the virus. To date, the majority of deaths have been from nursing homes. No different in New Jersey, although if Gov. Murphy had a brother with a prime-time show on CNN he might be more popular.
I would never deny that [COVID-19 is] terrible for those with compromised immune systems, but the survival rate otherwise is 99 percent. If we had a 99 percent chance of winning the lottery, we’d all be out buying tickets. We can stand in grocery stores, but local businesses are dangerous. If it’s as bad as Democrats and the media make it sound, why aren’t supermarket workers getting sick? We’re told it’s such a threat that we may need to vote by mail.
It makes me sad that we trusted our state’s leaders when they complied with 15 days to slow the spread. We knew the virus wouldn’t go away if we stayed home, but that people would get it over a longer period of time, so as to not overwhelm the hospitals. Yet now we’re told it’s too soon to reopen the blue states. However, it’s OK for red states?
It seems like there is a Democratic Party agreement not to reopen. I could be overly cynical. However, watching red states reopen with no spikes in cases or deaths makes me feel like I’m right. Hospitals nationally were never overwhelmed, which means we did the right thing by quarantining. The Democratic Party, the party for the people, is now hurting the people of this country the most, perhaps more than the virus. It’s all very suspicious to me.

Loving My Subscription!
I am a new subscriber and can’t thank you enough for this wonderful newspaper! It is so refreshing to read your unbiased news as I had to stop watching or looking at the mainstream media’s constant agenda-based reporting. I came across something I'd like to share from my deceased father-in-law’s high school Civics textbook from 1928.
“A person who wants the truth will, in the first place, read more than the headlines, for headlines are often misleading. In the second place, he will be on guard against partisan newspapers; their main purpose is to uphold one side, right or wrong, and their items as a rule cannot be trusted. In the third place, he will learn to note the difference between fact and opinion, between proof and assertion, between the account of an eyewitness and an account based on rumor or hearsay.” – From “Community and Vocational Civics” by Howard Copeland Hill
I have been sharing this passage far and wide and am grateful to have found the book lying undisturbed under the house for many, many years. I am equally grateful to have found The Epoch Times.

Roger Kimball’s Column
I would like to make a short comment on Roger Kimball’s excellent column in the latest issue of The Epoch Times, “With Pandemic, Societal Hallucination Yields Real Misery.” He referred to a piece in The Atlantic as “that putrid piece of partisan provocation...” This is probably the finest description of today’s press that I have ever heard. I’m not a big fan of alliteration, but that one caught my eye. Wonderful phrase and a wonderful column. I’m relatively new to your paper but am enjoying it immensely and spend the whole week reading it until the next issue arrives.

Voting Fraud
This proud, registered voter is adamantly opposed to voting by mail for this reason: voter fraud. Early this spring, my husband and I received letters from Lawrence County, South Dakota, allowing us to apply for absentee ballots to vote in the May election. We had moved from South Dakota in July 2019 and immediately established residency in Oregon, registering to vote in this state. We received ballots in the mail in OR to vote in the May election. Due to a work situation, my husband established residency in Arizona and has subsequently registered to vote in this state. Ergo, the two of us could have voted a total of five times, but because of our strong moral compass, we voted only in OR ... although it was tempting! How many Americans would have taken advantage of this situation to sway votes in their candidate’s favor? Obviously, counties and states are backlogged in their attempts to clean up voter logs, and one has to wonder how many non-resident and deceased American voters are receiving ballots.

It Took Only 4 Months
In his excellent article “With Pandemic, Societal Hallucination Yields Real Misery” (5/21/2020), Roger Kimball effectively made the case that we destroyed our economy, and unleashed real misery on American families for a virus that had a lethality rate “on average about 0.2 percent, which is in the range of a severe influenza ...”
Petty government tyrants clothed in virtue unleashed the great misery flawlessly and methodically on an easily manipulated population. Politicians justified closing “non-essential” activities and businesses with false “scientific” announcements of up to 2 million CCP virus deaths. Arbitrary decisions of what constituted “non-essential” resulted in shuttering churches, theaters, restaurants, parks, sport events, hair salons, to name a few enjoyable, up-lifting activities. One county supervisor exercised her newfound mandate power by prohibiting doubles tennis but allowing singles tennis.
Many government employees who continued to receive their paychecks agreed with the politicians. They chastised the “deniers” for caring more about money than saving lives and proclaimed “if only one life is saved,” it would be worth the cost. People who simply wanted to work were called troglodytes for disagreeing with the “science.” They were shamed into silence and told their ignorance would result in hospital wards overflowing with the dying and infected children crying for their infected mothers.
The panic accelerated when face masks were mandated so that only darting eyes were visible on the streets. Social distancing was enforced so that no touching or hugging, kissing was allowed. Citizens were encouraged to snitch on their neighbors if the mandates were not scrupulously followed. Drunk with power, politicians began to extend the lockdown into the undefined future, further demoralizing the people. Finally, for solely “humanitarian” reasons, of course, our virtuous leaders opened the jails and freed felonious prisoners, which created havoc in many neighborhoods.
We did this to ourselves, and it took only four months. George, Thomas, and James are rolling in their graves.
