Yang Chiung-ying expresses that she is deeply touched by Shen Yun

TAICHUNG, Taiwan—After spending the afternoon with Shen Yun Performing Arts’ fourth show in Taichung on March 9, legislator Yang Chiung-ying expressed how deeply she was touched by the performance. Legislator Yang said that she feels the two Chinese characters of “Shen Yun” are symbolic of a mighty body.

“Extraordinary comes from the ordinary, but in the ordinary is strength,” she explained. She also stated that, since she’s now seen Shen Yun, this is a fortunate year for her.

As a politician, legislator Yang usually speaks very quickly, but when discussing her feelings after the performance, she spoke slowly and affirmatively.

“What’s displayed on the stage by Shen Yun is very colorful,” she said. “Take Inspired Dance of the Yi for instance: When the actresses are spinning, their five-colored skirts become large rings instantly—it was very beautiful and outstanding. The performance made me feel very comfortable.”

The Inspired Dance of the Yi depicts scenes in the lush valleys of southern China, where girls of the Yi ethnic group gather to dance. Wearing embroidered hats and sweet smiles, they step and spin in a festival of motion. With every movement, their gorgeous, rainbow-hued skirts flutter like brilliant butterflies.

“In the dance When Shaolin Monks Protected the Emperor, all the young monks were very funny,“ she said. ”Everyone has his role to play. Regardless of whether they are the funny monks or the miserable rabbit that was cooked to tempt the Buddhist monks, every being has his or her mission in the world.”

Ms. Yang concluded by saying that Shen Yun is a very high-quality show that has tremendous energy. She also praised the programs for being very wonderful—programs that instilled in her a sense of belonging.
