LeBron James’ wife Savannah Brinson has stirred the latest free agency rumors by posting a photo of the location of Akron, Ohio on her Instagram.
The photo increased speculation that James will opt out of his contract with the Miami Heat and return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
“Home sweet home!! The countdown is real! #330,” Brinson said.
The likelihood of that happening, in reality, isn’t that great, compared to some of the other destinations that James has been linked to.
James has been linked to both the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers. The former would feature playing alongside Kobe Bryant, although the Lakers notably don’t have any other solid players to work with at this point. He would team up with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin at the Clippers.
He’s also been rumored to be a prime target of the Houston Rockets. There he would team up with Dwight Howard and James Harden, although that would mean switching to the Western Conference.
The James family has a house in the Akron area for the summers, prompting further investigation into Brinson’s post.
Miami Herald writer Joseph Goodman said via Twitter that: “Savannah James’ ‘Akron’ post was about her going back home for the summer and nothing more, according to a source close to James family.”
James can opt out of his current contract by June 30. He has not given any indication publicly as to what he’s thinking.
James left the Cavaliers in July 2010.
