League Spectator Figures: Australia is Top

Maybe you have heard about Australian football. That uniquely Australian game where the Pies and Saints drew in their Grand Final last weekend.

You might be interested to know that the Australian Football League’s (AFL) average match attendance figures are higher than the English Premier League’s (EPL).

National Football League (NFL) in the United States is first, followed by Germany’s Bundesliga then AFL. EPL is fourth as the domestic league that attracts the highest number of spectators in a season per match average.

Major League Baseball (MLB) is fifth, while Canadian football (CFL), La Liga, Baseball in Japan (NPB), Serie A and Cricket (IPL) round out the top 10.

Per capita however, Australian football easily out-ranks all comers.

The 2010 grand final match attracted 100,016 spectators to the venue and millions via live broadcasting.
