An article saying the “last German prisoner” from World War II is nothing more than a hoax.

The bogus report was posted on World News Daily Report, which describes itself as “satire.”

“Russian prison authorities surprised the international community this morning, by announcing that they would finally set free on Friday, the last German prisoner of war from the Second World War. 84-year old Reinhard Kunze, was only 14 years old when he was captured by Soviet troops during the Battle of Berlin, in January 1945, and was detained for the last 69 years in various Soviet and Russian forced labor camps,” it says.

According to a disclaimer, the site doesn’t post real news.

“World News Daily Report is a news and political satire web publication, which may or may not use real names, often in semi-real or mostly fictitious ways. All news articles contained within worldnewsdailyreport.com are fiction, and presumably fake news. Any resemblance to the truth is purely coincidental, except for all references to politicians and/or celebrities, in which case they are based on real people, but still based almost entirely in fiction,” it says.

The website has posted similar fake news stories, including one about a Chinese miner being found after spending nearly two decades underground.

A number of people apparently believed the German prisoner article. “If someone cross borders of any country withou permision or invitation of people from that country and even destroy property , soil the land and kill domestic people then he shouldnt be suprised if domestic people kill him or capture him for lifetime !!” wrote one person.

Added another: “This is just disturbing, sick and mentally twisted. The BOY was 14 and was a child recruited at 12!”

The bogus article had thousands of shares and “likes” on Facebook.
