Mother’s Day Brunch With an Ocean View

If you’ve not made a reservation yet at one of the many fabulous restaurants for Mother’s Day on May 8, it’s too late! But don’t worry! You can still treat mom to brunch along the beautiful Orange County coastline. Get the family together and prepare a delicious picnic with mom’s favorite food and snacks along with a few blankets, and spend the day on the sand. Good food and quality time with mom are amplified with a scenic view.

Breakfast in Bed

There is a reason this classic remains a popular choice. Not only does it allow mom to regain some much-needed rest in the morning, it also gives the family a chance to spend some quality time working together to prepare a meal for someone else—a simple yet meaningful act. This also allows partners and siblings to show thoughtfulness by catering to and remembering mom’s favorite foods. Accent the meal with a simple flower on the tray, and you have a tried-and-true act of service and memories that will be treasured for years to come.

Weekend Camping Trip

Make the whole weekend a celebration with a camping trip at mom’s favorite park, such as O’Neill Regional Park in Trabuco Canyon. Families can escape from the noise and distractions of life at home in the great outdoors through hiking, enjoying scenic views, taking a dip in a lake or waterfall, basking in the warm sun, and so much more. Then end the day enjoying s’mores over a toasty warm fire while gazing at the stars.

Dinner/Movie Night

For quality time the whole family can enjoy, get ingredients for mom’s favorite meal and spend the evening cooking together. This would give culinary moms a break from the kitchen or the chance for her to share her love of cooking with the whole family. Not only does this option allow for flexibility, but families can use this time to try out new recipes for creations like homemade sushi, mom’s favorite pasta, or even use a meal-planning kit for simpler meal prep.

Cookout/Potluck With Friends and Family

Why prepare for and celebrate the day alone when you can bring all of mom’s closest friends and family together to share the day with you? Not only can this include more moms, but families can bond and come together to help bring everyone’s favorite foods and traditions together in one place. Preparation could be less stressful with everyone bringing a favorite dish, and you can create new traditions with some of mom’s favorite people.

Volunteer

If she doesn’t enjoy celebrations, join mom in volunteering your time to her favorite cause or charity, or perhaps an organization that supports moms or other women. Volunteering is a great way to spend quality time together and helps create lasting relationships with your community while creating a deeper sense of fulfillment.

Watch Home Movies

Relive some of your favorite memories with mom and the whole family by having a family home video night while enjoying some of mom’s favorite snacks or drinks. For an extra meaningful touch, you can make your own short film with some of your favorite photos of Mom and family members. Reliving fond memories brings the whole family closer while creating new memories and laughter for a night that she will cherish forever.
