A lake inspired getaway should provoke feelings of relaxation.
It should bring back memories of nothing but peace, quiet, and tranquility; and of long summer days spend on the lake. A cabin by the lake is one of the most peaceful, relaxing places on earth, and bringing lakeside décor into your home is a great way to recreate an inviting and relaxing atmosphere.
If you’re looking for some rustic, woods inspiration –here’s how you can get the look in your home.
Earthen Colors
For a lakeside-inspired interior, earthen tones are a great choice. Earth browns, moss greens, and light gray can all help to conjure up feelings of a cabin by the lake. These colors can also be offset with strong accent colors, like a red or burgundy, to help add a sense of warmth to the space.
Rustic Furniture
For a lake getaway, think natural materials. Wicker, rustic wood, and antique or distressed chairs would be at home in a lakeside-inspired cabin. Top the chairs off with cozy throws, and textured pillows.
Nature-Inspired Décor
For décor, look for designs that are reminiscent of a day at the lake. Like vintage ads for fishing bait, burlap signs, or antique duck decoys. Or, repurpose items that can be used at the lake. An oar can be turned into a wall rack, and apple crate boxes can be used as shelving units or upcycled into a coffee table.
The goal with lake-inspired décor is to bring the outdoors in. Look for inspiration from nature and use it to add to your home.
