From Nicki Minaj to Miley Cyrus, it was one big ladies night at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, August 24, 2014.
This year, three leading ladies opened the show, including Nicki Minaj, Jessie J, and Ariana Grande, where they not only sang their singles, but also debuted their new track collaboration “Bang, Bang.”
Nicki Minaj had the most audacious performance of the night, coming in close to the ’twerking' Miley Cyrus performance of last year.
Beyoncé had a 15+ minute performance where she squeezed in her whole latest album “Beyoncé.”
Taylor Swift also had a memorable performance, and Katy Perry stole the night with her impressive outfit that channeled Britney Spears’ denim dress of 2001.
Miley Cyrus took home the most coveted award of the night, Video of the Year for “Wrecking Ball.”
On Facebook more than 13 million people were generating 30 million interactions during the broadcast of the show.
Other notable performances of the night included Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora.
