It’s Labour Day (May Day) in western Australia on March 3, and the paid public holiday grants most people time off.
Many banks and all post offices are closed for the holiday.
Many of the larger stores remain open for at least limited hours while some small businesses will be closed.
While March 3 is Labour Day in western Australia, it is the second Monday in March in Victoria and Tasmania. It’s known as Eight Hours Day in the latter.
In the Northern Territory, it’s the first Monday in May.
And in the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, South Australia, and Queensland, it’s the first Monday in October.
